Upscale Steakhouse Adds to Amenities-Focused Renovation of Iconic Office Tower
MINNEAPOLIS (OCTOBER 1, 2018)– Chicago-based Golub & Company, an international real estate investment and development firm, announced today that Denver-based 801 Restaurant Group will open a new 11,180 square foot 801 Chophouse in the fall of 2019 at RSM Plaza. The addition of the restaurant provides an important cornerstone to the redevelopment of this signature downtown office tower and brings classic New York steakhouse-style dining with a Midwestern flair to the heart of Minneapolis.
“We’re in the midst of a transformation of RSM Plaza to create the kind of highly upgraded office community that today’s businesses want,” said Stephen Sise, senior vice president, Golub & Company. “801 Chophouse is sure to be a welcome addition to the downtown dining scene, an ideal meeting place for RSM Plaza tenants and anyone visiting downtown.”
Originally opened in Des Moines in 1993, the family-owned 801 Chophouse has grown to six locations across the Midwest, including Kansas City, Leawood, Omaha, St. Louis, and Denver. This will be its first location in Minnesota. Modeled after the classic 1920s steakhouses, 801 Chophouse is known for its innovative menu featuring USDA prime steaks, fresh fish and crustaceans, and its award-winning wine and spirits list. Each location offers a unique atmosphere with top notch service across the board. For more information, visit https://801chophouse.com/.
“We are excited to fulfill a need in the thriving Minneapolis business marketplace by providing a spectacular restaurant venue with distinctive private dining offerings,” said Jamie Lynch, co-owner. “Minneapolis is a first-class city and 801 Chophouse is a first-class operation. I take special pride in this particular location as I lived in Minneapolis for 13 years.”
The restaurant will be located at the epicenter of the recently transformed Nicollet Mall and will add a marquee amenity for the tenants of RSM Plaza and the downtown business community. Since 2015, when Golub & Company acquired the building, the redevelopment has focused on modernizing the property by adding amenities such as a fitness center and conference center, expanding the connection to the Skyway and enhancing the streetscape and retail offerings. A team from Colliers International led by Kris Schisel and Tony Strauss is responsible for leasing the restaurant space. Jones Lang LaSalle leases available office space in the building.
